Honest answer from someone who has done this thousands of times: replacing the seal itself is not dangerous, but it is fiddly, and the most common DIY result is a door that now binds or reverses. The bottom trim on an older Amarr door pulls off and the new seal feeds in from one end. If the retainer is original and the previous seal was siliconed in place, you will spend an hour scraping old adhesive out of a channel with a screwdriver, and then the new seal may catch on the opener’s close force setting and trip the reverse.
